Tide and Tempest

Tide and Tempest, Edge of Freedom Series #3

In Elizabeth Ludwig’s final book in the Edge of Freedom series, Ludwig brings all of her characters back together to finally reveal who The Celt is and what he has to do with the Fenians.

In Tide and Tempest, Tillie McGrath is still haunted by the memory of losing her fiance, Braedon, and their unborn child on the journey from Ireland to America.  On his death bed, Braedon gave Tillie a special ring but told her never to wear it.  That ring is important to some very important people, and Tillie’s life is in danger (although it takes her awhile to realize it).

Captain Morgan was reluctant to leave Tillie when he found her a place at Amelia Matheson’s boarding house.  So when he finds out that her fiance was actually murdered on his ship, Morgan determines to protect Tillie and to find the people who are after her.  But can he protect his heart from falling for a girl who must be in love with his younger brother?  And can he protect himself from the Fenians, the Irish group that he believes is responsible for her fiance’s death?

Tillie doesn’t believe that she deserves anyone’s love after her life of sin, and so she keeps everyone at arms’ length.  But will Tillie ever be able to find the forgiveness and love that God has to offer her?

Once again, Ludwig does a great job of drawing in the reader and keeping their attention throughout the book.  It was definitely hard to put it down!  And I was not at all disappointed with the ending.

I would say that this book is a great read for vacation!
