To Honor and Trust: A Book Review

To Honor and Trust, Bridal Veil Island Series #3To Honor and Trust is the third book in the Bridal Veil Island series by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller.  While I generally like these two authors, this was not one of my favorite stories.

Callie Deboyer grew up in a wealthy family, but her parents left all their wealth behind to serve God on the mission field of Africa.  Now they are hoping that their only child with join them, so they can minister together.  But Callie finds herself torn between a life as a governess to the Bridgeport children and a life of sacrifice in Africa.

Wesley Townsend is also no stranger to wealth.  As one of the sons of a wealthy businessman, Wesley is being pressured to make a commitment to join the family business.  Having left his medical career behind him, Wesley feels lost trying to discover God’s will for his life.

When the Bridgeports take their winter getaway on Bridal Veil Island, Callie is instructed to take tennis lessons and golf lessons with Thomas Bridgeport.  Wesley, who is also on a winter getaway with his family on the island and bored by all of the social events, decides to take the position left vacant by the absent golf instructor.  As the two get to know one another, Callie wonders if her once-broken heart can trust this interesting man.  And Wesley fears that if Callie learns who he truly is that she will never give him a chance.

Can love bloom in the midst of secrecy?  And who is the new nanny the Bridgeports have hired?

As Callie and Wesley seek God’s will, they find themselves in the middle of an investigation involving the thefts of the houses on the island.  Who is behind the robberies and why is Callie considered a suspect?

This third book in the Bridal Veil Island series was actually rather boring to me.  The plot seemed flat, the characters seemed weak and unlikeable, and the ending was predictable.  Even when conflict arose, it didn’t seem to be developed well enough to cause true tension.

If you want an easy read, then this is the book for you.  But if you’re looking for a story with a little more depth, I would encourage you to look for something else.
